GCSE results day 2026: Pupils congratulated as they look to the future

Pupils across Lancashire have been congratulated after receiving their GCSE results today.

County Councillor Matthew Salter, Lancashire County Council's cabinet member for Education and Skills, thanked education staff and reminded young people that help is available if they need support.

Cllr Salter said:

"I wish the very best of luck to everyone receiving their GCSE results today.

"You should be proud of your achievements after many hours spent revising and preparing and many years of hard work.

"I really hope you receive the grades you wish for.

"I'd also like to thank all of our dedicated education staff, and to remind young people that there are always lots of opportunities to consider, even if you might end up on a different path to the one you originally planned.

"Whatever your next steps are, I wish you every success.

"However, don't forget that if you need to talk, our advisors at both Talkzone and the Youth Futures team are on hand to confidentially discuss anything from results to feeling low, chat about relationships, or finding work or training."

Young people planning to continue their studies should contact the education provider they had planned to attend and discuss the options available to them.

However, any young people whose results are not as they'd hoped for can access support and advice through Talkzone and the Youth Futures Team.

Talkzone is a specialist support service which has trained advisers who can talk to students, in confidence, about their exam results and anything else that might be concerning them. It is available from 2pm to 10pm every day, including weekends and Bank Holidays.

It can be accessed by telephone, email, text and webtalk, which means young people can call Talkzone on 0800 511 111, text on 07786 511 111 or email talkzone@lancashire.gov.uk. Alternatively, get in touch through our access webtalk services or via Facebook.

Meanwhile, advisory service Youth Futures is also on hand and can be contacted by telephone, email or self-referral through their online form. They are also hosting a series of in person and online events throughout August to support young people with their next steps.

Young people, parents or carers can call the Youth Futures Team on 01772 531044, email youthfutures@lancashire.gov.uk or complete the online form here. You can also find more information about the online and in person events by clicking here.
