Have your say on new traffic camera locations across Lancashire

The council has been using powers to enforce moving traffic offences since January 2026 and already operates cameras at a number of locations across the county. These enforce restrictions such as banned turns, one‑way movements and yellow box junctions.

Lancashire County Council is launching a six‑week public engagement on plans to introduce camera enforcement at four additional sites where there are ongoing concerns about safety, congestion and drivers ignoring existing restrictions.

Each location has been identified following complaints from residents and evidence of drivers repeatedly ignoring restrictions, leading to congestion, frequent near misses and, in some cases, collisions.

The proposed new sites are:

• Holme Street, Accrington
• Chapel Brow, Leyland
• Maudland Road, Preston
• Romford Road, Preston

People are encouraged to have their say between 15 June and 27 July. Feedback will be reviewed and considered as part of the council’s assessment before any decisions are made.

County Councillor Warren Goldsworthy, cabinet member for Highways and Transport, said:

“When traffic restrictions are ignored it can lead to congestion, delays and increased safety risks for other road users.

“The proposed locations have been identified based on feedback from residents and evidence of drivers repeatedly ignoring the existing restrictions.

“We’ve used that data to focus on the areas where issues are most persistent, and this engagement gives people the opportunity to share their views before any decisions are taken.

“Camera enforcement is one way we can help improve safety and keep traffic moving, and I would encourage anyone with an interest in these areas to take part and let us know what they think.”
