Help to shape the County Council's budget

Residents, businesses and community groups are being invited to get involved in helping to shape the county council's next budget.

A public consultation has been launched asking people to take a short online survey on their priorities to help protect the services residents and businesses rely on.

The county council currently expects it will need to save approximately £79million to make sure essential services can continue to be delivered.

To help make decisions, the council wants to hear what matters most to people across Lancashire, and understand their views on how the authority should spend taxpayers' money.

Cllr Stephen Atkinson, leader of Lancashire County Council, said:

"We're asking people to take a few minutes to complete the survey, as their feedback will help inform the proposals considered by councillors.

"We know household budgets are under pressure, and local government is facing a difficult financial position with demand for services rising significantly.

"We are working hard to make sure every pound of taxpayers' money is spent wisely, and hearing what matters most to people will help us make the right choices.

"We remain committed to making this council the best in the country and delivering high-quality services for Lancashire.

"Every response to the consultation will help us plan for a better Lancashire for residents and businesses."

The final budget will be decided at a meeting of Full Council on 25 February 2027.
