Lancaster and Morecambe Domiciliary Service rated 'good' by the CQC

"If they had not moved in, they would never have had the life they do now."

That's just one of the comments made by a relative of someone who uses the Lancaster and Morecambe Domiciliary Service, which has been rated as 'good' in its latest Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection.

The service supports people with learning disabilities and autistic people who live in their own homes and was given a 'good' rating in all areas following the visit of inspectors in June 2025.

In their report, inspectors described workers as "kind, caring and compassionate" and said they respected people as individuals and encouraged people to be independent.

Staff were praised for working well together and being committed to providing effective care.

Workers make sure people are involved in decisions about their care and important events and regularly review and update care plans for people, which includes details about their experiences, culture and preferences.

Inspectors also noted that people who use the service were living varied and fulfilling lives and engaging in different hobbies and interests with support from staff.

Councillor Graham Dalton, cabinet member for Adult Social Care, said:

"I am so proud of the staff who have shown a real commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

"They support people to live better lives, independently and on their own terms.

"It's important that people are at the heart of every decision that's made about their care, and that any support is tailored to their individual needs and preferences, giving them real choice and control."
