ready to rehome

Save an unwanted soft toy and share your adventures as #LancsSummer begins

School's out and to celebrate we're launching a new campaign to make sure families across Lancashire have a fun-filled summer to remember.

The #LancsSummer campaign aims to bring together everything we have to offer so you can make the most your holiday time in Lancashire.

From country parks and special picnic sites, moors, hills and community woodlands to travelling along our extensive, picturesque network of Public Rights of Way and urban greenways on foot, hoof or cycle, there are lots of ways you can enjoy the outdoors in our county.

Our museums run loads of activities all summer – many are free and suitable for the whole family – and don't forget to check out your local library too. Our Family Hubs offer lots of free activities and some much-needed support over the summer.

You can see what's on in your area our new webpage here: www.lancashire.gov.uk/summer

To encourage people to get involved, we'll be taking some of our rescued soft toys from our recycling centres on a tour around some of our most popular destinations, including Beacon Fell, Queen Street Mill and Lancaster Castle.

We frequently receive unwanted soft toys in fantastic condition at our recycling centres. All these toys have names and tales to tell, and allowing them to be rehomed instead of disposed of gives these toys another chance to be loved and helps to reduce waste.

You can adopt a rescued soft toy at one of our reuse shops at Garstang, Preston and Burnley recycling centres.

If you adopt a rescued toy, show us what they've been getting up to around Lancashire this summer by sharing pictures of their adventures using #lancstoyrescue on Instagram and Facebook.

County Councillor Cosima Towneley, cabinet member for Children and Families, said:

"You might feel pulled in all directions over the coming weeks but there's one place you can find local, and not so local, activities to engage the whole family.

"To help speed this up we've brought everything Lancashire County Council has to offer for summer fun under one roof.  Click www.lancashire.gov.uk/summer to find everything you need to make the most of your summer.

"From exploring our county's rich heritage, getting active to preparing for a new term, we have it covered.  Follow our campaign and share your ideas and tips online using the hashtag #LancsSummer to make this summer fabulous for all."
