Lancashire Artist of the Year

Last call for entries for Lancashire Artist of the Year 2023

Lancashire Artist of the Year, the new competition from Lancashire County Council, is closing soon – but there's still time to enter.

The competition is open to all and will close on Monday 19 June 2023.

We want to see paintings, sketches, collages, lino prints or even embroideries depicting your favourite view of Lancashire in spring, summer, autumn or winter.

To enter the competition, simply upload a photo of your original artwork before the 19 June deadline. All submitted artworks must be in landscape format.

Once the deadline passes, our panel of judges will pick their favourites from each season to create a shortlist. The shortlisted artworks will then be open to an online public vote which will open at 9am on Monday 10 July 2023 and close at 23:59 on Thursday 10 August 2023.

The finalists and the winner's artworks will be collated and printed in our first Lancashire Artist of the Year 2024 calendar, which will be sold across the county in libraries, museums and our archives. Proceeds from the sale of the calendars will go towards activities to support Lancashire Care Leavers.

County Councillor Peter Buckley, cabinet member for community and cultural services at Lancashire County Council, said: "It was important for us to make this competition inclusive, which is why we have made it open to everyone across Lancashire, regardless of ability.

"We've had some brilliant entries so far and there's still time to enter before we move into the judging phase of the competition.

"Once the judges have picked their favourite artworks from each season, we'll be putting those to a public vote so you can have the final say.

"The artwork with the most votes will win the title of Lancashire Artist of the Year 2023 and feature on the front cover of our first Lancashire Artist of the Year 2024 calendar.
