'Heartfelt thank you' for long-standing volunteers recognised at celebration event

Long-standing volunteers from across Lancashire have been recognised for their efforts at a special celebration evening.

Sixty volunteers from the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership attended a hotpot supper and celebration event at County Hall on Thursday, September 4.

Some 23 of the volunteers, who have each completed at least a decade of community service, were given certificates and recognised for their work by Lancashire County Council's Vice Chairman Alf Clempson and Dr Sakthi Karunanithi, director of Public Health.

Councillor Alf Clempson, who is also the county council's Champion for the Armed Forces and Veterans, said:

"We have more than 1,000 volunteers supporting a wide range of services, including Libraries, Museums, Archives, Older Peoples Services, Children & Family Wellbeing, Waste Management, Countryside, Lancashire Child and Youth Justice Service, Lancashire Refugee Resettlement Programme and Community Support Befrienders.

"Each of these services plays a vital role in our community, and our volunteers' collective support ensures they continue to thrive and make a very real impact on the lives of countless individuals.

"Our volunteers come from all walks of life and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to support our communities.

"From our youngest volunteer, who is just 12 years old, to our oldest volunteer, an inspiring 93 years young, they all exemplify the spirit of giving and community support.

"We are especially proud to recognise and extend a heartfelt thank you to our volunteers who have been with us for more than 10 years. It is their passion, kindness and generosity that make all the difference.

"They are the heart and soul of the Lancashire Volunteer Partnership, and we are immensely grateful for everything that they do. Their dedication is a testament to their unwavering commitment to making Lancashire a better place for everyone. Thank you to them for their incredible contributions and the wonderful community that we have built together."

The partnership has also launched a new promotional video, which showcases some of the amazing work that their incredible volunteers do. You can watch it here: Volunteering with Lancashire Volunteer Partnership

Councillor Peter Buckley, cabinet member for Community and Cultural Services said:

"Our volunteers across Lancashire are truly inspirational and this special event was a way of ensuring that their work is acknowledged and celebrated.

"We would especially like to thank those volunteers who have gone above and beyond, giving up their valuable time for the community for more than 10 years. Well done and a huge thank you to them all."
