Jonathan will take over from the current Director of Environment and Planning, Andrew Mullaney, who is retiring after more than 34 years' service with the county council.

Phil Green, Executive Director of Growth, Environment and Transport, said:

"This is an incredibly important role at a crucial time in Lancashire's history.

"Jonathan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge and is an enthusiastic, highly motivated, strategic leader with a track record of achievements across the private and public sector.

"He has shown a real passion for joining us and we are confident he's going to be a big asset to our senior leadership team and to Lancashire as a whole.

"We are of course losing a great public servant in Andrew Mullaney, who will be greatly dearly missed by colleagues, and we wish him all the best in his retirement."
