New technology to enhance support for children and families in Lancashire
A new Family Hub Information Sharing Service is being established at Lancashire County Council to help services and partners share information and deliver cohesive support to children, young people and families.
Information will be captured, safely stored and shared to and by appropriate practitioners such as school nurses, family safeguarding teams, NHS and police. This will be done on a need-to-know basis and confidentiality will remain a priority.
Information is shared in lots of different ways which sometimes means that information is out of date and people who use services have to repeat themselves to practitioners.
County Councillor Cosima Towneley, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, said: "It is no longer acceptable for those seeking help from our services have to repeat the same information time and again. It is exhausting, frustrating, distressing and is the last thing needed when at crisis point. We must work to ensure information is up to date so our teams and partners make well-informed decisions about the support they give. Digitally advanced information sharing will help us provide the right support in the right place at the right time using the correct information."
The Information Sharing Service will free up valuable time for practitioners by reducing the need for inputting and processing information and will increase the quality time spend working with and supporting children, young people and families.
