Update on strategic review of our in-house adult social care services.
Statement on behalf of Cllr Stephen Atkinson, Leader of Lancashire County Council.
Cllr Stephen Atkinson, Leader of Lancashire County Council, said: “We want to reassure all those affected by our review into the future of adult social care services in Lancashire that the council has no intention to close any of the five care homes included in this review.
"While the results of the consultation are still being carefully analysed, an update was given to the cabinet this week to ensure this information has been made clear to the public because of disinformation which had been spread about the homes' futures.
“We are committed to minimising distress for residents, families, staff and service users who are impacted by this review.
“We are grateful for the more than 1,600 responses received through the consultation, and we welcome the Minister of State for Care, Stephen Kinnock MP’s recognition of the Council’s transparent and resident‑focused approach. In his letter, the Minister expressly welcomed Lancashire County Council’s decision to undertake a full public consultation – despite not being legally required to do so – and encouraged the council to continue balancing the views of those directly affected as work progresses.
“This next phase will involve further engagement with stakeholders and potential partners to explore investment options across our directly delivered adult social care services. An outline business case will be developed and brought back to cabinet for consideration in April.”
