Tramway benefit extended during illuminations for Wyre NoWcard holders
Wyre residents who have a NoWcard concessionary travel pass can now use it on the Blackpool to Fleetwood tramway while the Blackpool illuminations are on.
Access to the tramway is an extra benefit available to NoWcard holders who live in Wyre but there were previously restrictions on when they could use the tramway as it becomes very busy during the illuminations period.
These have now been removed following discussions between Lancashire County Council, Blackpool Council and Blackpool Transport in recognition that availability of some evening bus services has reduced since the Covid pandemic.
County Councillor Scott Smith, Lancashire County Council lead member for highways and active travel, said: "It's good news for Wyre residents that they can now use their NoWcards on the tramway at all times, even during the Blackpool illuminations.
"The tramway is an important part of the local transport network in this area and I'm grateful to Blackpool Council and Blackpool Transport for working with us to ensure that concessionary pass holders in Wyre can get where they want to go at all times."
