Young people's achievements to be celebrated during Care Leavers' Week
The achievements and experiences of young people leaving care will be celebrated this month during National Care Leavers' Week, which takes place from 25 October to 1 November.
Every year we celebrate Care Leavers' Week during the October half term holidays.
The week provides an opportunity to celebrate care leavers amazing achievements and to also see what Corporate Parents can do to support care leavers.
Events also take place right across the country organised by charities like Become and local leaving care services.
In Lancashire, we are holding two outdoor activity days held at Borwick Hall and Hothersall Lodge with climbing, canoeing, problem solving and archery.
Young people will also be invited to a celebration evening at County Hall where there will be music, prizes, quizzes, games and a Wall of Fame, which will celebrate our care leavers' achievements.
County Councillor Stephen Clarke, chair of Lancashire County Council's Corporate Parenting Board, said: "Care Leavers' Week is a great way for us to showcase and celebrate the achievements of care leavers and for us to learn from them to help us improve the way we support them in the future.
"We want all Lancashire children to lead successful and fulfilling lives and it is our role as corporate parents to support them to do that.
"We are putting on two outdoor activity days this year and I am looking forward to meeting and hearing more about our care leavers during our upcoming celebration evening."
