Partnership to take next step to advance St Annes Masterplan

The newly secured funding will ensure continued development on the St Annes Pier Link Project, connecting the Square and the Pier, as part of comprehensive public realm improvements in St Annes. Additionally, the funding will help to unlock development opportunities on The Island site as envisioned in the Masterplan.

On Friday, March 7, Lancashire County Councillor Aidy Riggott, cabinet member for Economic Development and Growth met with Councillor Karen Buckley, Lead Member for Economic Development and Leader of Fylde Council for a tour of key areas in the project.

Lancashire County Councillor Aidy Riggott said:

"It was fantastic to visit key areas of the project including the St Anne's Pier Link Project, ahead of proposed work starting for this in the summer. We also visited  'The Island' for which there is potential for huge regeneration.

"Lancashire County Council will seek to invest substantial funding from the Lancashire Economic Growth and Development Investment Fund to secure the continued delivery of the St Annes Masterplan, which is important regeneration work.

"These projects should help to bring more visitors to this much-loved area and will continue to allow St Annes to remain a treasured and much-loved tourist destination for the North West.

"This scheme aligns with our Lancashire Growth Plan, which includes a focus on how our coastal towns recognise the need to reinvent themselves and adapt to changing tourism trends and visitor demands."

Fylde Councillor Karen Buckley said:

“This partnership with Lancashire County Council represents a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to revitalise St Annes.

"The Lancashire Economic Growth and Development Investment Fund will enable us to progress with key aspects of the Masterplan and look to progress development of The Island site.

"These improvements will benefit both residents and visitors, strengthening St Annes as a vibrant destination on the Fylde coast.”

The St Annes Masterplan forms a central component of Fylde Council’s broader economic development strategy, aimed at enhancing public spaces, improving connectivity and stimulating investment throughout the borough.
